Investigating the Indicators and Predictors of Hospital Infection in General ICU ward of Qazvin Bouali hospital, 2017

 Background: Nosocomial infections account for about one third of deaths in hospitals. Objective: In this study, we have tried to accurately determine the factors affecting the incidence of hospital infections at the regional level and provide more comprehensive information and opportunity to improve the prevention and treatment of these infections in our regional hospitals. Materials and Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional comparative study which has been conducted to investigate the 86 patients admitted to the ICU ward of Buali Hospital in Qazvin in 2017. We extracted the patient’s files information consisted of demographic information and clinical information (bronchial, blood, urine culture  ...) Results: The incidence of hospital infection was 24.3% in all admitted patients during study period. In 38.4% the prominent organism was Acinetobacter and 18.6% was Pseudomonas aeruginosa.The highest antibiotic resistance reported for Cefepime by 64% and then 60% for Ciprofloxacin. Older age, invasive interventions and … had been more common in patients with nosocomial infections.   Conclusion: The incidence of hospital infection in General ICU ward of Qazvin’s Bu Ali Hospital was slightly higher than similar studies in other countries. The present study represents the possibility of developing infectious diseases with different strains and a more varied pattern of antibiotic resistance in the region which enhances the necessity of more comprehensive studies in this feature in our region and country.
